In Yin Chuah’s studio

When Yin Chuah invited us to come over for quiche, croissants and a little studio visit we couldn’t say no. Famous for her macrame jewellery label Yinjoux we knew we would be in for a visual treat, and we weren’t mistaken. Let’s take a peek inside shall we?

Hailing from Malaysia, but having lived in South America, France and Australia, Yin is truly international. Her boyfriend, whom she calls her foundation, is from Paris, but for now they are both based in Sydney and loving it, he studies photography while she makes her jewellery. Their home/studio is located in Surry Hills, in a cute little street next to a park and she spends her day’s either on her macbook in the garden sipping tea, or in her studio making magic. Yinjoux has slowly been building a following, especially after collaborating with Romance Was Born for their Renaissance Dinosaur collection and RAFW runway show. The pieces in her collections are all handmade using a macramé technique Yin learnt whilst in the favelas of Bahia, Brazil where hippies and street kids alike practice the traditional handcraft. Her jewellery is a work of art and has been exhibited as such, the beauty is each piece is a unique piece of wearable fashion forward art.

Visit Yinjoux.com to view the collection. Head to Etsy to buy online.

Wow thanks for showing us this because I wouldn’t have found her jewellery any other way and I like her studio. Her jewellery is unique and like her studio is so quirky.
