In our first style profile, we feature Australia’s Next Top Model model mentor Josh Flinn. Originally from Adelaide, Josh has made a name for himself in Sydney after making the move here in 2004 to pursue his interest in fashion. After a stint at FBI Fashion College, and experiences as brand manager for labels such as Silence is Golden and An Ode to No One, Josh now looks after the public relations for fashion luminary Alex Perry.

Only 3 seasons old, Sydney-based menswear label Song for the Mute is no household name. But, with success at RAFW last year, a host of local and international stockists already under its belt, and a killer new A/W collection set to be shown in Paris this month, all that looks set to change.

You may have noticed things slowing up a bit this week here at On the Streets of Sydney.com. Yes, we’ve been a little preoccupied: stuffing stockings, singing Christmas ‘muzak’ tunes that have been played on repeat in Myer since mid-November, and reading jokes that come with Christmas cracker victories - the sort of jokes you grin at until you realize they sound eerily similar to ones your dad recounted in 1995.

Icarus is one of the most renowned and tragically proud figures in Greek mythology. In attempting to escape Crete by flying away on wings that his father had constructed, Icarus ignored advice and ventured too close to the sun. As the wax in his wings melted away, he fell to his death in what is today known as the Icarian Sea. Icarus also remains one of the most popularly referenced Greek figures, lending his name to a relatively recent and welcome arrival in the retail fashion scene for men at 42 Reservoir St, Surry Hills.
